Does it remind you of a quilt or vintage tiles?  The ceramic backplate was taped off into a grid of squares and each section was glazed differently, so it's a patchwork of different colors, textures, and finishes. The warm, clean grid lines keep it crisp and graphic, and the simple white globe gives the whole thing a clean focal point so the color can do its thing without feeling busy.
