The Prism Chandelier: Bold, Colorful Lighting for Mid-Century Modern and Eclectic Homes October 02 2025, 0 Comments
Lighting sets the tone for a room. Some fixtures are safe. Some are subtle. And then there’s the Prism Chandelier — unapologetically colorful, joyfully mid-century, and designed to be the center of attention. With twelve globes in a rainbow of bold hues, the Prism is a chandelier for people who love dopamine décor, who embrace fun, and who aren’t afraid to let their personality shine through their home.
Whether it’s hung in a playroom, a dining room, or above a big bed in a grown-up’s bedroom, the Prism Chandelier is proof that design doesn’t have to be serious to be stylish.
A Fixture for the Bold and the Playful
The Prism is for color lovers. It’s for people who think beige is fine for oatmeal, not for living rooms. And while it often finds a natural home in playrooms, nurseries, and kid-friendly spaces, its boldest statement comes when it’s installed in “adult” spaces.
When you hang the Prism over your dining table or in your living room, you’re making a statement: you value joy, you embrace creativity, and you aren’t afraid to take design risks. It signals a playful, adventurous spirit. And isn’t that what personal style should be about?
The Prism makes a daring statement in dining rooms — proof that color belongs in “adult” spaces too.
Dopamine Décor and the Joy of Color
Color is emotional. Science shows it impacts mood, focus, and energy. For years, interior trends have leaned neutral, but the resurgence of dopamine décor has reminded us how good it feels to live with vibrant hues.
The Prism Chandelier taps into this movement. Its rainbow palette sparks joy at a glance. But here’s the secret: you don’t have to be a maximalist to make it work.
- In a white room, the colors pop like art.
- Against pastels, the fixture creates an airy, playful balance.
- With deep jewel tones, the chandelier adds contrast and vibrancy.
It’s a piece that adapts to its surroundings while still holding its ground as the star.

The Design Story
The Prism wasn’t dreamed up overnight. It came from a natural progression of our work at Sazerac Stitches. We were expanding the Loa Sconce collection, adding new colors one by one. One day, it clicked: we had enough shades to build a Sputnik-style chandelier that celebrated all of them at once.
Historically, Italian mid-century designers experimented with colorful chandeliers, but they kept it simple: three colors, maybe six. We decided to go all in. Twelve globes, twelve colors, no holding back. At the time, there was nothing else like it on the market. Even today, though big-box stores have tried “inspired” versions, nothing compares to the vibrancy and handmade quality of the Prism.
Designed in New Orleans, the Prism was one of the first chandeliers to go all in on color.
Where the Prism Works Best
Because of its size (approximately 30" wide, 33.5" long with a 24" downrod), the Prism holds its own in large spaces. It’s not petite, and that’s the point.
Perfect Spaces for the Prism:
- Dining rooms: Hangs confidently over a large table, adding color and conversation.
- Playrooms & nurseries: A natural home, where creativity and color thrive.
- Bedrooms: A surprise focal point, especially against moody or pastel walls.
- Living rooms: Doubles as art and lighting in eclectic or mid-century spaces.
- Tall ceilings: Its arms and downrod scale beautifully upward.

Styling Tips
- Contrast is key. Bright colors pop most against either light pastels or dark jewel tones.
- White rooms are easy. The chandelier takes center stage, and you can switch out décor accents like pillows and rugs over time.
- Pair with mid-century shapes. The Sputnik silhouette naturally complements MCM furniture and wood tones.
- Layer patterns and textures. For eclectic interiors, Prism shines among bold wallpapers, patterned rugs, and quirky art.

Why We Made It
At Sazerac Stitches, we don’t believe in stiff, serious design. Homes should be joyful. They should reflect personality, creativity, and individuality.
The Prism chandelier embodies that philosophy. It’s bold, it’s fun, and it’s versatile. It’s not meant to blend in — it’s meant to define the room.
